Rolled Oat Pastry

This is a delicious recipe for tartlets or if you are adventurous you could even make a quiche style meal from this pastry. It is savoury and has a really short yet nutty texture. It is so simple as well and the pastry can be made in 10 minutes!

 

Ingredients – Makes 6 tartlets

 

60g Rolled oats

230g Plain Flour

120g Butter, melted

2 Egg yolks

Pinch Salt

Splash Iced water

 

Method

 

  1. 1. Softly combine all dry ingredients remembering to sift the flour.
  2. 2. Whisk together the wet ingredients, this includes melted butter.
  3. 3. Make a well in the dry ingredients and combine the wet ingredients.
  4. 4. Allow to rest for at least 1 hour before using as require.

 

Cooking

 

If you are required to blind bake, line your mould with baking paper, fill with baking beans or rice and bake for 15 minutes on 220°C.

 

Otherwise cook as per instructions on your recipe.
