Producer to Plate Series – Part 1
I’m starting this Producer to plate series with my favourite supplier at Auckland’s Waitakere Estate, they are by far the best vegetable (and other things) supplier I have worked with and possibly overall the best supplier. The chances are if you go to fine dining restaurants they are supplying at least the fresh produce. I caught up with John who answered a few questions about what he does and what the company is all about.
Q. Can I have a brief description of your business and what you do?
A. Food distribution to the food service.
Q. What motivated you or what reasons were behind you starting this business?
A. We went to a business broker looking for a business and were shown several business before this one, we liked the fact that it was food and had the opportunity to grow, our advises also said it could have legs, we have always felt if we can do it better than everyone in a small industry we could make it work
Q. What inspires you to continue producing?
A. Feeding the family, love of growing something positive, working with go people and clients in an extremely fast paced industry you never clock watch in this game
Q. What is your favourite season and why?
A. Autumn because the surf pumps, in our business all seasons because it is always changing
Q. What is your number 1 favourite vegetable or fruit?

A. For us we are in the process of working under a new strategy with our clients "what can we do to make you more profitable" better technology, larger product range, closer communication, improving on mistakes kind of like all the management theorists and theories Frederick Taylor, Kaizan, K.P.I's and real grunt work to combine a great future
Q. Could you survive as a vegetarian!?
